Radio Azattyq correspondent Saniyash Toyken, while covering a rally at the square of Aktau, noticed a group of men distinguished from the rest of the protesters by their unusual behaviour. About 15 bearded men stood in the centre of the rally and behaved aggressively, shouting calls to attack the building. Saniyash, who approached the group, warned the men that this was an attempted provocation similar to the one that happened on December 16, 2011. The bearded men turned on the journalist, accusing her of working for the Democratic Choice of Kazakhstan. Intimidated by the aggressive behaviour, she quickly moved away from them. She then saw protesting workers push this organized group out of the centre.
