During the electoral debates on TV8, Svetlana Kesari, chairman of the Noua optiune istorica party, accused the journalist Mariana Rata of manipulation, promoting the political party PAS and protecting the interests of the prosecutor Viorel Morari. Mariana Rata filed a lawsuit against Svetlana Chesari to defend her honour and dignity. On August 13, Chesari was fined for libel based on the journalist's complaint.
