On May 9, the police detained the journalist when he was covering the motorists' action Antiparade in Babruisk. He was accused of violating the law on mass events (Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus). He was taken to Mogilev to the temporary detention centre until the trial. On May 12, the court found the journalist guilty and arrested him for 10 days. From the moment of his detention and during his imprisonment, Asiptsou kept a hunger strike in protest.
