The journalist was detained by riot policemen on August 10 in the centre of Minsk when he was covering a peaceful protest action against the results of the presidential election. During the detention, he was severely beaten. Shved was taken to the detention centre, where he was charged with violating the law on mass events (Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus). The journalist was released on August 15.
