The journalist was detained by the police in the evening when he was going to the city centre to cover a protest action against the presidential election results. He was taken to the police department, where he was drawn up a report for violation of the law on mass events (Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus). He was placed in the detention centre for almost a day until the trial. On August 13, the court found the journalist guilty and fined him ten basic amounts.
