On August 10, the court issued a warning to the journalist. The police detained the journalist on the day of the presidential election when he was covering a peaceful protest action of citizens who disagreed with the preliminary results of the voting. He was taken to the police department, where he was drawn up a report for violation of the law on mass events (Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus). The journalist was placed in the detention centre until the trial.
