The journalist was detained by the security officials when he was covering a protest action against the presidential election results. He was taken to the police department and drawn up a report on violating the law on mass events (Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus) and placed in the detention center for three days until the trial. On October 7, the court found Yuri Komissarov a participant in the protest and arrested him for seven days.
