Basmanny Court arrested Izotov in absentia on the case of an action near the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Kyiv in 2018. The journalist is charged with an attack on the diplomatic mission (Part 2 of Article 360 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He is on the international wanted list. Izotov asked for asylum in Georgia.
