According to the investigation published by OCCRP, Forbidden Stories and Amnesty International, the Azerbaijani authorities used the spying program - Pegasus - of the Israeli company NSO Group known for developing cyberstalking devices to spy on journalists and activists. Among the victims was Sujaddin Sharifov, deputy chief editor of the independent Azerbaijani news website Azadliq.
