The police detained the journalist on the evening of the presidential election day when he was covering a peaceful protest of the citizens who disagreed with the preliminary voting results. He was taken to the police department and drawn up a report on violation of the law on mass events (Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus). He was placed in the detention center until the trial. On August 10, the court found the journalist guilty and fined him 20 basic amounts.
