On August 10, Georgian Public Broadcaster terminated the employment contract of presenter Irakli Absandze. Absandze was detained on July 12 at a rally in front of the Georgian Dream ruling party office, where a protest took place after the death of the Pirveli TV operator Lekso Lashkarava and violence against journalists on July 5-6. The journalist suggested that his dismissal relates to the pressure from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
