The chief editor of the opposition newspaper is suspected of inciting inter-regional hatred, referring to the journalist's post on Facebook, where he spoke negatively about the new acting mayor of Bishkek Taalaibek Sarybashov. The State National Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic initiated a pre-trial investigation under Part 1 of Article 313 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic «Incitement of racial, ethnic, national, religious or inter-regional hatred (discord)». According to the law, this article provides punishment in the form of imprisonment for five to seven years.
