On August 4, Russian watchdog Roskomnadzor blocked Open Media and MBK media news websites at the request of the General Prosecutor’s Office. On August 5, both news outlets announced they were ceasing operations. The news outlets said they had not received any notification from authorities explaining why they were blocked.
