In a letter to his lawyer, the journalist wrote that after his arrest in the detention facility of the State Committee for National Security, he was offered to sign a decree on sending him to Uzbekistan without the participation of lawyers. However, Abdullaev refused to sign the documents, after which the staff of the pre-trial detention centre tortured the journalist. “One of them put me on an iron bed and started to choke me with a green towel. Unable to withstand the suffocation, I leaned back and fell to the floor, hitting the corners of the iron bed with my left hand and right eyebrow. I got cuts on my left arm and right eyebrow. When blood began to flow all over my face, prison workers quickly left my cell and closed the doors. There are still scars left from this injury on my left arm and right eyebrow, ” Abdullayev wrote in a letter.
