Radio Azattyk journalist Maria Melnikova was summoned to the West Kazakhstan Oblast Police Department for interrogation in a criminal case concerning the dissemination of knowingly false information. The journalist was called as a witness with the right to a defence. According to Maria, the reason for the call was her re-post on the Facebook page of a photograph posted in the public group on Instagram dedicated to Uralsk. The photo was taken from the angel where the monument to Abai was not seen. The photograph was also accompanied by the comment: «Repair of the Abai Square. Beginning».
