Police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse protestors against the rigging of the elections outside the Central Election Commission building. An activist and freelance journalist Goga Hocholava was injured as a result. He was diagnosed with traumatic conjunctivitis, a chemical burn in his left eye. Hocholava said: "A man from the special forces purposely threw a spray jet into my eyes. The doctors do not know what it was, but it wasn't a pepper spray, because I have a chemical burn.»
