Nika (Nikoloza) Gvaramia, former general director of the TV channel Rustavi-2 (now general director of the TV channel Mtavari Arkhi) was attacked in the building of the Tbilisi City Court. Three assailants waited for Gvaramia at the exit of the court building. Gvaramia was in court as the lawyer in the trial of Giorgi Rurua, arrested in a case of acquisition, storage, and possession of a weapon. The Interior Ministry of Georgia announced that an investigation into the attack was opened under Art. 126, part 1 of the Georgian Criminal Crime, dealing with beating or other force causing physical pain to the victim.
