Fikret Guseinli, journalist, critic and contributor to the opposition newspaper "Azadliq" who had emigrated to the Netherlands, was arrested in October in Ukraine. The journalist-critic was detained on the basis of a submission to Interpol by the Azerbaijani government. He spent several months under guard in Ukraine and was under police supervision. He was subsequently freed. Fikret Guseinli worked for a long time in Azerbaijan and was known for his harsh criticism of the government and a number of officials. Following his emigration to Europe he works for the satellite broadcaster "Turan TV".
