On July 29, a political advisor and columnist for Novaya Gazeta Vitaly Shklyarov was detained in Minsk. The detention of Shklyarov is connected with the work for blogger Sergei Tikhanovsky, the husband of the presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who has been in jail since the end of May. On July 31, Shklyarov was arrested for 2 months, charges have not yet been brought.
