On April 18, 2017, the October District Court in Ulan-Ude handed down a verdict in the case of Buryat activist and blogger Vladimir Hagdaev. He was found guilty of public appeals for separatism (Part 2 of Article 280.1 of the Criminal Code) and acquisition of drugs on an especially large scale without the purpose of sale (Part 2 Article 228), and sentenced to a three-year suspended sentence, with three years’ probation.
