The blogger Kamola Mazhidova was arrested for 15 days for violating quarantine rules and for petty hooliganism. She is the author of a video at the statue of Amir Timur (Tamerlane), asking him, when “will coronavirus leave Uzbekistan”. Appearance in public places without personal protective equipment (masks) is supposed to be punishable by a fine, not 15 days in jail. The court considered the post to be disrespect to the historical person of Amir Timur. Furthermore, the video “demonstrated actions expressing deliberate disrespect for the rules of behavior in public”.
