The Centre for Combatting Extremism (CEE) accused Chernov of "questioning the effective measures taken by operational headquarters" on coronavirus, after a publication in April entitled "In Bryansk, they ignored the constitution and introduced a permit system". The case was opened on abuse of media freedom under Article 13.15 of the Criminal Code at the request of Deputy Governor Alexander Korobko.
