Alferov was charged with causing moderate harm with a weapon (sub-part ‘b’ and ‘z’ of Part 2 of Article 112 of the Russian Criminal Code). The case was opened in June 2019 at the behest of collector Svetlana Bondarenko, who the blogger allegedly sprayed in the face with pepper spray. In August a second case was opened against Alferov – insulting a judge.
