Also on June 9th, Dmitry Tikhonov, a journalist from the Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law, was detained while covering a peaceful demonstration against the ongoing elections. According to Dmitry, the police knew that he was an employee of the human rights bureau and a journalist, as he showed them his documents.
