Yelena Kuznetsova, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "The Quarter" was sentenced to the year of restriction of freedom with probation control for the article "Revelations of a Russian Investor" (from 8th November 2018), "Exposé of a Russian Investor" (from 15th November 2018) and "Shady schemes of a Russian investor" (22nd November 2018). If the sentence comes into force, she will also be subject to an obligatory payment to the Victims Compensation Fund of 15 monthly notional units (36075 tenge). The judge of the Petropavlovsk City Court, Saule Litfullina, found the journalist guilty of an offence under Article 130, Part 3 of the Criminal Code (defamation, coupled with the accusation of a person of committing corrupt, serious or especially serious crime).
