By a ruling of the Buda-Kashalyova District Court of the Gomel Region, the Instagram account of the project “Belarus Novosti” (identifier: instagram.com/belarusnovosti2) has been recognised as extremist informational material. The page has nearly 22,000 followers and publishes news from Belarus and around the world. On the basis of the court’s decision, the Belarusian Ministry of Information has added the online resource to the Republican List of Extremist Materials. Under Belarusian law, the distribution and storage of materials deemed extremist entail administrative liability for both publishers and users.
