By a decision of the court of the Sovetsky District of Minsk, the Instagram account “belarusianmartyrology” (identifier: instagram.com/belarusianmartyrology) has been recognised as “extremist informational material.” The page of the media project Belarusian Martyrology is dedicated to the stories of Belarusian political prisoners, including imprisoned journalists. On the basis of the court’s ruling, the Belarusian Ministry of Information has added the online resources to the Republican List of Extremist Materials. Under Belarusian law, the distribution and storage of materials recognised as extremist entail administrative liability for both publishers and users.
