The KGB of Belarus has designated the streaming platform Belarus Tomorrow as an “extremist formation”. The platform’s social media accounts and logo have been deemed “extremist”. The individuals said to be carrying out the activities of the formation are media managers Aliaksei Dikavitsky, Pavel Sverdlov, Dmitry Novikov and Pavel Marinich. Belarus Tomorrow is the first Belarusian independent streaming platform bringing together leading Belarusian media outlets, bloggers and experts. Broadcasting is carried out via the “Svoboda” package of satellite television and radio channels, created as part of a project by Reporters Without Borders. Under Belarusian law, any interaction with resources recognised as extremist formations may result in criminal prosecution and imprisonment for up to ten years for participation in or assistance to an extremist formation (Articles 361-1 and 361-4 of the Criminal Code).
