The Prosecutor General’s Office of Belarus has filed a lawsuit against former political prisoner and journalist Ihar Losik for approximately seven million US dollars. According to the journalist, the claim relates to the period from 9 August to 11 December 2020 and concerns bonuses paid to police officers who suppressed protests. He also stated that there is another claim against him regarding broken handcuffs, the use of flashbang grenades, and other matters. Losik was detained on 25 June 2020, meaning he was in custody during the period to which the claim relates. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for allegedly organising mass disorder and inciting hatred or enmity. He was released and forcibly transferred to Lithuania on 11 September 2025 following an agreement between Belarus and the United States.
