The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Belarus has referred a criminal case against blogger Maxim Shabutsky to the courts in absentia. Shabutsky is accused of creating an “extremist formation” consisting of his Telegram and YouTube channels, inciting enmity, calling for actions against national security, defaming Lukashenko, insulting the president, judges and government officials, discrediting Belarus, and other offences. In total, the blogger is facing charges under 16 criminal articles.
