On 5 February, the Civil Court of Appeal, and on 16 July, the Court of Cassation dismissed the defendant’s complaints in the case brought by the ruling party, “Civil Contract,” against the founder of the fact-checking website Fip.am – the public organisation “Union of Informed Citizens” – thereby upholding the decision of the court of first instance, which had ordered the defendant to publish a retraction, pay 150,000 drams (over $380) in legal fees to the claimant’s lawyer, and a further 20,000 drams (over $50) in state duty.
