It has emerged that Belarusian journalist and political prisoner Dzianis Ivashyn spent about two weeks in the punishment cell of Prison No. 8 in Zhodino in December 2025. This was reported by his wife, Olga Ivashyna. The exact dates and the reason for the journalist’s punishment are unknown. Human rights defenders equate detention in SHIZO (punishment cells) in Belarusian places of imprisonment with torture, as political prisoners there are subjected to harsh and inhumane conditions.
