Additional information:
The Cheremushkinsky District Court in Moscow has sentenced Meduza publisher Galina Timchenko, in absentia, to five years’ imprisonment for leading an “undesirable organisation”. She was also banned from holding managerial or leadership positions for five years. Prosecutors claimed that Timchenko founded Meduza “out of hatred and contempt for the country’s state system” and for “the domestic and foreign policy of the current government”. They further alleged that, after Meduza was designated an “undesirable organisation”, she intended to continue its work in order to remain part of Russia’s information space.
