The Ministry of Justice has added the German media corporation Deutsche Welle to the register of “undesirable” organisations. The outlet had already been designated a “foreign agent” in March 2022. In February 2022, even before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry terminated Deutsche Welle’s satellite broadcasting in Russia, closed its Moscow bureau, and revoked the accreditations of its journalists. These measures were taken in response to Germany’s ban on broadcasting the Russian state channel RT.
