The Southern District Military Court has sentenced Dagestan blogger Arslan Mirzaev (also known as Ali Charinsky), who resides in Ukraine, in absentia to eight years in a general-regime colony and a fine of one million roubles (€10,500). He was charged with publicly calling for terrorism and spreading “fakes” about the Russian army. According to the investigation, in spring 2022 Mirzaev, a resident of Odessa, posted “staged photos and written materials” on social media alleging crimes committed by Russian military personnel in Bucha and Mariupol. The indictment also refers to several video messages posted by Mirzaev. The criminal case against him was opened at the end of 2022.
