On 13 December, LLC “Artemed Residential Complex” filed a lawsuit with the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction against LLC “ABC Media”, the founder of the news website ABCmedia.am, demanding a retraction of information it considers defamatory and compensation in the amount of 1.5 million drams (around $4,000). The grounds for the lawsuit were a report entitled “Why are high-rise buildings being constructed in Vagharshapat?”, published on 13 November on the Facebook page of the said website. The publication states that a multi-storey residential building is being erected just 750 metres from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, and that this project for the first time violates both a proposal made by the late Catholicos of All Armenians Vazgen I and the unwritten rule that buildings in Vagharshapat should not exceed five storeys. The case is currently under consideration.
