On 13 August, the President of the National Medical Chamber, Narek Vanesyan, filed a lawsuit with the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction against Zhoghovurd Newspaper Editorial Office LLC, seeking a retraction of information he considers defamatory and the payment of compensation in the amount of 4 million drams (over USD 10,000). The grounds for the claim were material published on 1 August in the newspaper and on the website Armlur.am, both owned by the aforementioned company, which alleged that during the Covid-19 period Narek Vanesyan headed Yerevan’s coronavirus centres and was involved in various possible abuses under the patronage of the Minister of Health. The case is currently under consideration.
