Rafael Mamedov, a 22-year-old administrator of the “Free Lapland” channel, has been held in pretrial detention since May 2025. He is accused of taking part in the activities of a terrorist organisation (Article 205.5, Part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code). The channel mainly posted photos, memes, and historical materials about the history and mythology of the Murmansk region. In 2024, Russian authorities designated the “Forum of Free States of Post-Russia” as a terrorist organisation and identified 172 related initiatives, groups, and media projects — including “Free Lapland” — as its so-called “structural subdivisions.”
