Additional information:
The Petrozavodsk City Court has received a report of participation in the activities of an “undesirable” organisation filed against Georgy Chentemirov, a journalist for the Norwegian publication Barents Observer and former head of the Union of Journalists of Karelia. The Prosecutor General’s Office designated the publisher of Barents Observer as an “undesirable organisation” in February 2025, claiming that the outlet’s materials display a “pronounced anti-Russian bias” and that the project is funded by other “undesirable” organisations. Barents Observer publishes content in Russian and Norwegian. Its website was blocked by Roskomnadzor in 2019, and in March 2023, Chentemirov was declared a “foreign agent.”
