The author of the Telegram channel "SisMasis", Samvel Karapetyan, reported that the Tambov Ministry of Internal Affairs had stripped him of his Russian citizenship, citing a "security threat". According to him, this decision is unlawful: he was born a Russian citizen and has never held any other passport. Karapetyan has lodged a complaint and plans to take legal action. He considers the situation to be a precedent: "If someone can be stripped of citizenship by birth, then tomorrow the same could happen to anyone." The blogger links the decision to political pressure: he had criticised the Kremlin's policy towards Armenia.
