Polad Aslanov, founder and editor-in-chief of the website xeberman.com, began a dry hunger strike in prison on September 20, according to his wife, Gulmira Aslanova. She was able to visit the facility and speak with him by phone. Aslanova reported that her husband is suffering from ringing in his ears, lung wheezing, and nighttime suffocation that prevents him from sleeping. She also stated that other prisoners are being used to pressure him to end the strike.
