It has become known that blogger Rosa Babakhanyan was detained and tried under an administrative article for spreading “extremist materials” (Art. 19.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Gomel sentenced her to 15 days of administrative arrest. After her release, on February 24, Rosa Babakhanyan left Belarus; she was taken out on a government business jet used by high-ranking Belarusian officials. Meanwhile, the Armenian embassy in Belarus denied reports of possible criminal prosecution of the blogger. Rosa Babakhanyan holds Armenian and Belarusian citizenship and had lived in Belarus for the past 27 years. In her blog, she criticized the Azerbaijani authorities.
