The Cheryomushkinsky District Court of Moscow has ordered the arrest in absentia of writer and essayist Dmitry Bykov, who is accused of spreading “false information” about the Russian army. According to the court, the criminal case was initiated over an October 2023 interview with the YouTube channel Popular Politics, in which Bykov spoke about Russian shelling of civilians in the Kharkiv region. He is also charged with failing to comply with the requirements imposed on individuals labeled as “foreign agents.” The case became public in April, and in July Bykov was placed on the wanted list.
