The Cheryomushkinsky District Court in Moscow has arrested Meduza founder and publisher Galina Timchenko in absentia on charges of organising the activities of an “undesirable” organisation, under Part 3 of Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code. In June, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that Timchenko was wanted. The Prosecutor General’s Office designated Meduza as an “undesirable” organisation in January 2023.
