On June 20, opposition member of the Yerevan City Council Elders’ Council, Mesrop Manukyan, filed a lawsuit in the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction against Natalya Sinoryan, a member of the ruling "Civil Contract" faction in the same council. The media company "Media News" LLC was named as a third party in the case. The lawsuit was prompted by statements made by Natalya Sinoryan during a June 2 broadcast on "AraratNews Media TV," which is owned by the aforementioned company. In the broadcast, Sinoryan claimed that Mesrop Manukyan was entangled in corrupt dealings and that his family had acquired a hydroelectric power plant using suspicious funds. The plaintiff is demanding a public retraction of what he considers defamatory statements and monetary compensation. The case is currently under review.
