In Chuvashia, a criminal case has been opened against Eduard Mochalov, editor-in-chief of the local publication Vzyatka. He is charged with insulting a representative of the authorities (Article 319 of the Criminal Code) for a publication in which he critici ed local police for inaction. The case was opened following a complaint by two police officers. On January 27, investigators searched Eduard Mochalov's home and seized all his office equipment.
