The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow sentenced Vladimir Osechkin, founder of the human rights project Gulagu.net, in absentia to eight years in prison on charges of spreading “fake news” about the Russian army (part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Russian Criminal Code). Osechkin lives in France and has been placed on an international wanted list. The reason for the prosecution was his speeches and publications in which he criticised the actions of the Russian authorities.
