Leonid Spirin, editor-in-chief of the student media outlet Groza, reported that criminal proceedings had been initiated against him for repeated “discrediting” of the Russian army (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code). According to the ruling received by Spirin, the investigator of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Tatarstan “established” that after being fined for the first “discrediting,” Spirin “did not draw the necessary conclusions for himself and continued to publicly discredit the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.” The journalist is currently living abroad.
