18th of February - Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan brought a lawsuit against the LLC 'Media-Hub' and journalist Vahe Makaryan in the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction demanding that they be forced to refute statements which he considers slanderous, and that they pay a total of 1 million dirhams (more than $2,500) in compensation. The reason for the suit was a 29th of January article on Mediahub.am, stating that the Prime Minister of Armenian reprimanded Simonyan for making Russo-Armenian relations worse, since, during a meeting with colleagues from the Baltic states, he 'expressed opinions on Russia that could cause serious problems for relations between the two countries'. The plaintiff also issued a petition asking that assets belonging to the defendants to a total of 1 million dirhams be frozen. The case is under consideration.
