19th of February - Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan brought a lawsuit against the LLC 'Media-Hub' and journalist Vahe Makaryan in the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction demanding that they be forced to refute statements which he considers slanderous, and that they pay a total of 1 million dirhams (more than $2,500) in compensation. The reason for the lawsuit was an article on Mediahub.am titled 'Alen Simonyan has deceived Nikol Pashinyan and society: parliament to go back on plans to reduce number of courtesy cars'. According to the site, the mother and children of the Speaker travel in an luxury car which is paid for by the taxpayer, despite promises that the car would be removed from the budget. The plaintiff also issued a petition asking that assets belonging to the defendants to a total of 1 million dirhams be frozen. The case is under consideration.
